Cirrus Aircraft 70048-001 #4 & #5 Exhaust Header Weldment Kit — SR22, SB2X-78-04
On some early SR22s, the upper or lower slip joint engagement on the #4 and #5 exhaust headers may fail, which could scorch or damage engine components, the cowling or other parts.
Cirrus classes SB2X-78-04 as mandatory, within 100 flight hours or the next 12 calendar months, whichever occurs first. Aircraft that verify the bulletin's minimum header engagements may defer for a further 100 hours or 12 months, and some serials were already modified by factory repair — the bulletin lists them.
What the kit does: Supplies single-piece #4 and #5 exhaust header weldments that replace the existing header assemblies.
Why it works. A single-piece header has no upper-to-lower slip joint to come apart.
