Description
Cirrus Aircraft 70066-001 Fuel Selector Valve Extension Shaft Kit — SR20/SR22, SB2X-28-02
An extension shaft on the fuel selector valve failed on a Cirrus test aircraft with more than 1,200 hours. On affected aircraft the shaft may not withstand repeated twisting loads when the selector valve is stiff from cold, contamination or other causes. A failed shaft can look normal, so the pilot could believe the wrong tank is selected and the engine could stop from fuel starvation — although a failed shaft does make the selector noticeably easier to turn.
Cirrus classes SB2X-28-02 as mandatory, at the next annual inspection or within 100 flight hours. On these same serials, SB2X-28-03 (shaft sleeve, kit 70097-001) requires this bulletin first or at the same time.
What the kit does: Supplies the improved extension shaft assembly and upper cap assembly.
Note: For SR20 serials 1005 thru 1267 and SR22 serials 0002 thru 0380. Refer to SB2X-28-02 to confirm applicability before ordering.
Reference only — not a maintenance authority. The part numbers, effectivity and service bulletin references shown above are published as an aid to our customers and may not reflect current Cirrus data. They must not be used as the basis for installation. Mechanics must obtain and use their own current Cirrus Illustrated Parts Catalog and the current revision of any service bulletin, and must verify applicability against the aircraft serial number, service bulletin compliance and any installed STCs, before ordering or installing any part.
