Description
Cirrus Aircraft 70105-001 Aileron Hinge Bolt & Washer Kit — SR20/SR22, SB2X-57-05
Incorrect shimming of the aileron hinge at the factory may leave an excessive gap between the hinge and the aileron before the hinge bolt is torqued. After torque-up, some hinge bearings may then carry a side load that could let a bearing migrate out of its staked position. Cirrus reports no field cases of bearing migration.
Cirrus classes SB2X-57-05 as mandatory, at the next annual inspection or within 100 flight hours, whichever occurs first. The hinge bearings and gaps are inspected, and the hinges re-shimmed as required.
What the kit does: Supplies large area washers, which add redundancy at the hinges, and new inboard and outboard hinge bolts. Shims, hinges and brackets the inspection calls for are ordered separately, as required.
Note: For SR20 serials 1005 thru 1484 and SR22 serials 0002 thru 1286. Refer to SB2X-57-05 to confirm applicability before ordering.
Reference only — not a maintenance authority. The part numbers, effectivity and service bulletin references shown above are published as an aid to our customers and may not reflect current Cirrus data. They must not be used as the basis for installation. Mechanics must obtain and use their own current Cirrus Illustrated Parts Catalog and the current revision of any service bulletin, and must verify applicability against the aircraft serial number, service bulletin compliance and any installed STCs, before ordering or installing any part.
