Cirrus Aircraft 70133-001 Fuel Line Chafe Shield Kit — SR20/SR22, SB2X-28-04
There have been field incidents of chafing inside the console between the fuel line and the wiring harnesses, which may cause fuel leaks.
Cirrus classes SB2X-28-04 as mandatory, as soon as practical and within 50 flight hours or the next maintenance. Until it is done, the pilot should check for fuel odor in the cabin before each flight — if fuel can be smelled, the airplane may not be operated until maintenance investigates and corrects it. The fuel line is inspected for chafing and leaks and replaced if needed.
What the kit does: Supplies a fuel line shield, loop clamps, spiral wrap, a grommet and hardware to reroute the wiring away from the fuel line and shield it.
Why it works. With the harness routed off the fuel line and a shield between them, there is nothing left to chafe.
Note: For SR20 serials 1005 thru 1581 and SR22 serials 0002 thru 1643 and 1645 thru 1662. Refer to SB2X-28-04 to confirm applicability before ordering.
