Cirrus Aircraft 70230-001 Oil Breather Line Clamp Kit — SR20, SB2X-71-10
In extremely cold weather, inadequate engine preheating can let moisture freeze in the oil breather line, which can cause high crankcase pressure, a gradual decrease in oil pressure, improper crankcase venting and possible loss of engine oil.
Cirrus classes SB2X-71-10 as mandatory, at the next scheduled maintenance, annual inspection, or within 100 flight hours, whichever occurs first.
What the kit does: Supplies replacement and additional clamps and attaching parts that give a tighter connection between the oil breather line and the engine intake and further secure the line.
Why it works. Insulating the breather line keeps the moisture in it from freezing in cold weather, and the added clamps hold the line and sleeve securely in place.
Note: For SR20 serials 1005 thru 2029, including aircraft that complied with earlier releases of this bulletin. Serials 1005 thru 1773 also need insulation sleeve kit 70092-001. Refer to SB2X-71-10 to confirm applicability before ordering.
