Cirrus Aircraft 70557-001 Baffle Retention Hardware Kit — SR20, SB2X-79-05
On affected SR20s, the baffling spring retention system can chafe the surrounding cylinder oil drain lines, and oil can be lost through the damaged area.
Cirrus classes SB2X-79-05 as mandatory, within the next 50 flight hours or at scheduled maintenance, whichever occurs first. The oil lines are inspected for chafing at the same time; a damaged line is replaced separately.
What the kit does: Replaces the spring retention system with threaded rods sleeved in protective tubing, plus the hardware to install them.
Why it works. The springs that chafed the oil drain lines come out, and the rod retainer the bulletin specifies takes their place.
