Description

Cirrus Aircraft 70548-002 Garmin GDL 88 ADS-B Installation Kit — Group B, SB2X-23-05

The Garmin GDL 88 is a UAT ADS-B transceiver. Cirrus notes it can be used to meet the operational requirement for ADS-B Out equipment for aircraft in the United States operating below 18,000 feet MSL.

Cirrus classes SB2X-23-05 as optional — installation is at the owner's option. Aircraft with Perspective avionics must be current on the Perspective software bulletin the SB specifies, before or at the same time as this installation.

What the kit does: Supplies the GDL 88 transceiver with its rack, mounting bracket and heat sink, the antenna and antenna cable, the wiring harness, a circuit breaker and panel overlays, and the mounting hardware. Group B aircraft also get the floor modification and harness assembly the GDL 88 needs, because their wiring was not prepared in production.

Which kit do I need: SB2X-23-05 has four kits. Groups A and B install the complete GDL 88 with its antenna on Perspective-equipped aircraft without the DME option. Group A (70548-001) — SR20 serials 2303 thru 2338, SR22 4300 thru 4434, SR22T 1233 thru 1459, 1461 thru 1470 and 1472, where the floor and console wiring were prepared for the GDL 88 in production. Group B (70548-002) — SR20 serials 2016 thru 2302, SR22 3026 thru 4299, SR22T 0001 thru 1232, which also need the floor modification and wiring. Groups C and D supply only the antenna for earlier SR20 and SR22 aircraft without Perspective avionics: the forward antenna (70548-011) or the aft antenna (70548-012), chosen by the antenna location available on the aircraft. Aircraft with the DME option: contact Cirrus. Refer to SB2X-23-05 to confirm applicability before ordering.

Reference only — not a maintenance authority. The part numbers, effectivity and service bulletin references shown above are published as an aid to our customers and may not reflect current Cirrus data. They must not be used as the basis for installation. Mechanics must obtain and use their own current Cirrus Illustrated Parts Catalog and the current revision of any service bulletin, and must verify applicability against the aircraft serial number, service bulletin compliance and any installed STCs, before ordering or installing any part.
